Do you have POSSIBIL(I)TIES?

I know I do.  In 2010, I stitched 49 things and only finish-finished 16 of them.  The other 33, along with the inumerable items I have stitched but not finish-finished (dating as far back as the 1980s) I'm calling my POSSIBIL(I)TIES:

Piles
Of
Stitched
Stuff
I’ve
Been
Ignoring
Longer
(IMHO)
Than
Is
Even
Sensible
This year, I plan to tackle my POSSIBIL(I)TIES.  Soon, I'll list my POSSIBIL(I)TIES here and post updates as they're completed.  By the end of the year, I hope to have a tree full of finished ornaments and samplers displayed on my walls.
Would you care to join me?  If you have POSSIBIL(I)TIES, too, and would like to reduce them, please shoot me an email (my address is in my profile) or post a comment with your email address for an invitation and join me.

My first biscornu/tuffet

Well, I've been busy --- just not with finishing things.  This little biscornu/tuffet is my first in awhile.  I learned how to do this a couple weeks ago.  Sewing is not my strong suit but this was pretty easy to do.  And now that I know what I'm doing, I should be able to finish a couple other things.  That is, after things settle down at work.

Thanks for looking!

I have 3 finishes! woohoo

I have wittled down my hundred plus "possibilities" by 3. :) I made Housework by Lizzie kate into a cute little pillow. I also made a pillow out of Bent Creeks Bunny zipper kit (don't remember the exact name right now). And also made a little wallhanging out of A Hug Will Do. I really like how they all turned out and its a great feeling to at least have 3 finished. :)

I did it... twice!

A big thank you to all of you POSSIBIL(I)TIES mavens for helping kick my assets into gear. I am now the proud owner of two framed pieces.

They've been waiting a while for this. I know it shouldn't be all that hard. Pick your stuff, turn it over to the shop, wait to trade $s for paper-wrapped goodies in a few weeks. Not hard at all.... save for when you're lame.

First allow me to introduce:
2011 02 20 003
Blackbird Designs "My Quaker Home" framed in a medium Wedgewood-ish blue. It was finsihed in 2007 and sheer sloth kept it from getting framed until now. It's been clamped to a skirt hanger just waiting for me to pay attention.

Now the real problem child--
2011 02 20 005
Mirabilla's "Halloween Fairy" which was done being stitched on back in August of 2008. Then the problems began. You see I changed some colors in the piece, so between the odd (aka hard-to-match) colors called for in the chart (the dress brown, the orange, and the peachy beads) and the ones I changed (the green, the ink black, and the metallic), it became impossible to find a frame that went with everything.
I got so desperate at one point I even tried this combo:
2009 10 01 045
Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking either.
I'm glad I got this lovely frame finally--
2011 02 20 009
My framer (who has a love-hate relationship with me) even did black spacers to match the frame instead of his usual ivory ones-- I think the effect is quite spiffy.
2011 02 20 010

Once again, a big thank you to the POSSIBIL(I)TIES crew (especiially Diane for getting us inspired in the first place!!!)! Onward and upward to the next languishing piece!

I'm an idiot, but I'm getting there....

I sent 2 items off to the framer the week before last, but being an idiot, I neglected to take pics of them with their pending frames.

Mira's Halloween Fairy who I finished stitching in 2008:
8_22_2008 019
and
BBD's "Quaker House" which I think I finished in 2006???? {now I look at it, well duh! I finished in 2007. that's why it says "2007" on it. Idiot!}
Blackbird Designs -- My Quaker House -- completed 5/25/2007

fingers crossed that they come back alll happy from the framers'-- my framer can be a little (or a lot) peevish so it's always good to cross your fingers.

Happy finishing to all and to all a good Friday,
Ruth

A couple "finishes"

Hi! I haven't posted any lists or pics of my "possibilities" as of yet. BUT, i do have a couple of them finished up.
This first one has been sitting around in the closet for a few years now, and i honestly do not remember the name, but i do believe it was a free chart online. The second pic is the backing fabric i chose. Not too bad for my first attempt at a heart shaped pillow.

Here is another one that has just been lonely in the closet, well, not lonely but just ignored. I know this was a chart i had purchased but again, the name/designer escapes me.

My first completely finished ornaments

I added the finishing touches this morning to two of my mostly finished ornaments.  Most of the work I did over Thanksgiving.  So all I needed to do was add the little bling at the bottom, trim off all the excess threads and they are done.

I think this will be my plan of attack -- finish the one that are mostly finished first and then go on to the totally unfinished ones.  Hmmmm ... sounds like a plan.

Thanks for looking!

Some unfinished finishes that need finished

Well, here they are ... you will notice that some are actually partially finished and don't even need much effort to be completely finished.

Most of my stuff is small - ornaments and such.  Maybe this weekend I will work on the ornies in the bottom picture.  They just need some  beads or something added to the trim.  Well, that's the plan ......

Oh the POSSIBILITIES !

Thanks, Diane. This is simply brilliant. I have a pathetic collection of things needing finishing, and most of them are small -- ie. I should have been doing these myself for years. Apparently I'm a lazy stitcher.

I'm not sure what my attack plan will be, and I'm not even certain how many items I have hanging about. Among the ones I remember are:
1. dozens of ornaments and other smalls like--
M Designs wreath ornie fini 2008_5_22
BBD ornie 5_31_2008 001
7_01_2008 022
4_21_2009 017
4_21_2009 012
2010-01-25 034
Quaker freebie finished 3/29/07
Dutch motif 8/17/2007

2. needlepoint clock inserts--- waiting for me to find both the inserts and the clocks in the same place in space and time --
2_08_2008 066
clock insert......

3. a couple SBs who languish because as much as I love the Jill mats, they are cut too thin to work in regular frames. I keep debating the wisdom of having these framed with copper tape so they all match or having special filler mats cut so they can fit in real frames .....

4. Mirabilla's Halloween Fairy -- she's stalled because I can't for hte life of me find the right frame.

5. Heritage Stichcraft's Tudor Rose
Heritage Stitchcraft Tudor Rose

6. BBD's My Quaker House -- also waiting for the perfect frame
Blackbird Designs -- My Quaker House -- completed 5/25/2007

7. Midsummer Night's Quaker Meeting House -- uess what... waiting for the right frame...
Midsummer Nights Designs

I really am looking forward to getting some of these things well and truly finished!

happy finishing to all and to all a good night,
Ruth
